We have great news for Events2HVAC users (and future users) who want to integrate room schedules to door access systems. Events2HVAC now includes an interface for Openpath!
Openpath is an award-winning, keyless access system with exciting features such as a mobile credential that can be setup to allow individuals with the appropriate permissions to unlock doors and access specific areas using their smart phone. Of course, with Events2HVAC integration, doors will also be unlocked for scheduled events and locked when no events are scheduled in any one of more than 20 event management systems.

Our Openpath interface for Events2HVAC was originally developed for The Shoreline Church in San Clemente, CA. But now it is available to everyone!

The Shoreline Church uses Planning Center Calendar to schedule rooms and Ecobee thermostats for HVAC control. After implementing Events2HVAC to integrate their Planning Center schedules to their Ecobee thermostats to automate heat and air conditioning, they asked us to develop an interface to integrate their Openpath system too.
Today at The Shoreline Church, Events2HVAC is pulling schedules from Planning Center Calendar and sending commands to Openpath to unlock and lock the doors based on those schedules. As always, pre-start times in Events2HVAC are used to unlock the doors prior to an event; and post-stop times are used to keep doors unlocked for a specified number of minutes after the event, if desired.

“In the past,” Scott explained, “if we had volunteers come and help for an event, we would have to send an invite to their email in order for them to have access to the building doors. Now, if the event is on the calendar, the doors just open right before the event and lock right after. It is that easy.”
While energy and labor savings resulting from automating HVAC schedules for individual events is the main purpose of Events2HVAC integration, more and more users are requesting door access integration. We are delighted to offer another option to automate door access based on room schedules.
